Course 502: Deep Learning for Geoscientists

Course overview:

Deep learning methods have received attention after outperforming conventional machine learning approaches. Computationally, deep learning is an expensive method with slightly complicated math behind its algorithms comparing other methods of machine learning. However, emerging powerful personal computers with a strong graphic processing unit (GPU) and fluent libraries like TensorFlow helped deep learning to stay on the attention.

In this course, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of deep learning and its computation algorithms. All examples and exercises will be in the geoscience domain. After learning the basic algorithms and model fitting process, you will be able to estimate target parameters from existing data. You will also be able to evaluate model results using appropriate evaluation metrics to see how your model works properly.
