Mike Finn is a principal geologist with +30 years of geological experience including exploration for and development of conventional and unconventional resources. In his career, he worked on domestic and international projects, including on/offshore with a different level of management and leadership.
After graduating from the University of Alberta, Mike started his career in 1979 as a Geologist farming out two prospects in onshore Northwest Territories. Then, he worked for Husky from East to West of Canada for 10 years for both exploration and development projects. Later, he directed the horizontal redevelopment of several reef assets, US assets including 3D seismic acquisition, horizontal drilling, and partner relationships.
He was involved in deep basin exploration in Alberta, Duvernay in 1998. Serving as vice president exploration, Trident Exploration Corp., advanced gas production from Zero to over 100mmcfd, almost exclusively from Unconventional reservoirs. From 2015 to 2016, he worked for CGG Geoconsulting (Robertson), North Wales, UK for various projects including Namibia, Ireland, Gulf of Mexico, Portugal, Uruguay, and Pakistan. Currently, he is president of Mike Finn Consulting, providing consulting services for conventional and unconventional resources exploration and development.
